Final Fantasy VIII - PS1

Final Fantasy VIII follows Squall Leonhart, a young trainee at Balamb Garden aiming to join SeeD, a prestigious mercenary group. Squall, known for his aloof demeanor, struggles with social interactions. On the brink of his graduation, conflict erupts between Galbadia and Dollet, prompting Squall and three peers to undertake a mission as their final test. During this mission, they uncover a conspiracy spanning two decades, revealing hidden truths about themselves and the world.

Set in a retro environment reminiscent of the 1960s, the game blends sci-fi and supernatural elements. Players navigate a world map, accessing locations and engaging in turn-based combat using the series' ATB (active time battle) system. Unlike previous games, characters lack defined classes and are customized by equipping magic spells drawn from enemies. Spells function as expendable items in combat and enhance character stats when equipped. The game eliminates MP (magic points), focusing instead on spell management.
