In "Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus," the sequel to "Abe's Oddysee," players once again join Abe on a mission to thwart the Glukkons' sinister plans. After shutting down RuptureFarms, Abe discovers that the Glukkons are desecrating ancient Mudokon burial grounds to harvest bones for their Soul Storm Brew. Abe's journey takes him to the Soul Storm Brewery, where he must stop the corporate villains and rescue the enslaved Mudokon workers.
This 2D platform game retains the visual and gameplay style of its predecessor, emphasizing puzzle-solving and strategic evasion over direct confrontation. The game expands on its predecessor with a larger world and more intricate puzzles, requiring Abe to interact with Mudokons who exhibit various emotional and physical states, such as anger, depression, and blindness. Abe can use "Gamespeak" commands to address some of these conditions, while others require special items or careful guidance.
Abe also gains the ability to transform into Shrykull, a powerful Mudokon deity capable of instantly vanquishing enemies. This transformation is triggered by sending multiple Mudokons through a bird portal simultaneously. However, Abe can only use Shrykull's power once before reverting to his normal form.
A significant improvement in "Abe's Exoddus" is the introduction of a quick save feature, allowing players to save progress at any point and resume from the same spot if Abe meets an untimely end. This enhancement offers a more forgiving gameplay experience compared to the limited saving options in the original game.
